Fantasy Premier League returns with not only a double gameweek but also unlimited transfers before Wednesday’s 5pm deadline, and how you approach the restart will depend on the chips you have.

For managers who have both Bench Boost and Wildcard still to play, you could use the unlimited transfers to optimise your squad for gameweek 30+, Bench Boost, then Wildcard in gameweek 31+ to build a new squad.

For those who have the Free Hit chip, you could use it this week, draft in an entirely new squad of players and then your old squad will return for gameweek 31+. Be aware, this would effectively mean missing out on the unlimited transfers.

Here, we’ll discuss the best options for double gameweek 30+ ...

The second highest-scoring midfielder in the game has every chance of leapfrogging Mohamed Salah between now and the end of the season. Knowing Kevin De Bruyne, he could even manage that by the end of the double gameweek.

De Bruyne faces Arsenal and Burnley at home over the next five days. It’s a quick turnaround, and Pep Guardiola is happy to rotate, but De Bruyne can be more confident than most at Manchester City of back-to-back starts.

When City are playing a double gameweek, it makes sense to have at least two of their players in your squad, if not three. And even if Sergio Aguero’s minutes are likely to be managed, he is still an enticing prospect.

Aguero has 16 goals to his name this season despite playing considerably fewer minutes than the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Jamie Vardy, showing he does not necessarily need time on the pitch to perform.

Aston Villa’s battle against relegation restarts with two testing fixtures in the form of Sheffield United and Chelsea at home, but that is unlikely to affect Jack Grealish’s popularity among fantasy managers.

Taking pride of place in almost a quarter of squads, Grealish was experiencing something of a barren run before lockdown with no goals and just one assist in five games but the onus is now on Villa’s talisman to perform.

Sheffield United’s backline has been a consistent source of points all season long and while the out-of-position John Lundstram has earned cult hero status, others are also worthy of your attention.

Enda Stevens and his fellow wing-back George Baldock are both interesting options for the trips to Villa Park and St James’, while John Egan is probably the pick of Chris Wilder’s three centre-halves.

Arsenal’s defence is hardly the most reliable, and a clean sheet at the Etihad seems unlikely, but Bernd Leno has a good chance of picking up save points there with better returns away to Brighton on Saturday.

Leno had three clean sheets in four appearances before the shutdown and for those planning to Bench Boost and Wildcard, a goalkeeping double-up with Dean Henderson could be profitable.
