Arsenal vs Everton team news: Per Mertesacker DROPPED for Gabriel, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in for Danny Welbeck

Arsene Wenger has dropped Per Mertesacker to the bench and replaced him with Brazilian centre-back Gabriel for Arsenal's Premier League match against Everton at the Emirates Stadium today.

The only other change Wenger has made from the team who was thrashed by Monaco in the Champions League in midweek was to bring in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for Danny Welbeck.

Vice-captain Per Mertesacker, who was one of several players to underperform in Wednesday's Champions League defeat.

Everton had produced a far better effort in their Europa League tie on Thursday night, with Romelu Lukaku, who netted a brace in the 3-1 win over Young Boys, again leading the attack after shaking off a hamstring problem.
