Alberto Aquilani's future will be decided in the next few days, according to the player's agent.

The Liverpool midfielder, who is under contract with the Premier League side until June 2014, played on loan at AC Milan this season.

"We had a meeting with English executives but for the time being, nothing has emerged," said Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia to www.ilsussidiario.net.

"We expect a response from Liverpool which should arrive within the week."

Reports in Italy claimed this week the 27-year-old could terminate his contract with Liverpool before joining Milan permanently, something which Zavaglia has vehemently denied.

"There is absolutely no possibility that Aquilani can become a free agent in order to then decide what to do," Zavaglia added.

"I don't know if he wants to stay at Milan, we shall see. We just have to wait and see what happens and what Liverpool decides."

Aquilani moved to the Reds in 2009 in a £20million transfer from Roma.

He endured a disappointing spell at Anfield before being loaned to Juventus for the 2010-11 campaign.

Juve opted not to exercise the option to acquire Aquilani's sporting rights for a reported eight million euros last summer and the player joined AC Milan on a one-year loan deal instead.

Aquilani scored one goal in 23 league appearances for the Rossoneri.
