England move up two places in Fifa world rankings after wins against Norway and Switzerland

England have moved up two places to 18th in the Fifa World Rankings after recording victories against Norway and Switzerland this month.

After a disastrous World Cup that saw Roy Hodgson's team exit at the group stage the Three Lions were ranked in 20th, their lowest position since being 27th way back in March 1996.

But the two wins, a 1-0 friendly win against Norway at Wembley and an impressive 2-0 victory away to Switzerland in the Euro 2016 qualifier has seen the side climb.

Chris Coleman's Wales team have jumped a huge 12 places after Gareth Bale hit a late winner on a terrible artificial pitch in Andorra. Scotland are down one place, tied with Wales in 29th.

The Republic of Ireland have moved up four places to 62, while Northern Ireland are up a massive 24 places thanks to a late show by Niall McGinn and Kyle Lafferty gave Michael O'Neill's side their first away win in 18 matches; they are now 71st.

At the top World Cup winners Germany still remain ahead of beaten finalists Argentina, with Colombia third; Brazil are in sixth with Spain in eighth with the Netherlands, Belgium, Uruguay, France and Switzerland rounding out the top 10.
