Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former Manchester United striker, has emerged as a contender for the post of Leicester City manager vacated by Sven Goran Eriksson last month.

The Championship club's owner, the Thai millionaire Vichai Raksriaksorn, is believed to be considering the Norwegian's claims after Lee Clark, the Huddersfield manager, decided against taking the post.

Solskjaer helped his current club Molde to the first league title in their history in his first season in charge this year, after a spell cutting his teeth as manager of Manchester United's reserves.

That has attracted the attention of Raksriakorn, who is determined to see the club promoted to the Premier League after investing millions in the playing squad this summer.
