Portsmouth fans finally set to take over at Fratton Park
The Pompey Supporters Trust are finally set to take over the club after they cleared a crucial hurdle when they were granted permission to take control of Fratton Park, following an agreement in the High Court.
The club's administrators, BDO, agreed a settlement with Portpin, a holding company run by former club owner Balram Chainrai, Levi Kushnir and Deepak Chainrai, which controlled Fratton Park.
Portpin had placed a value of £10 million on the stadium, while the Trust had bid £3m. Without a compromise agreement the fans' attempts to take over the club would be impossible and can now go ahead. Trust chairman Ashley Brown said: "This is a historic day for Portsmouth Football Club and for Pompey fans everywhere. At last, we can start to rebuild our club."
