Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One rights holder, has bought a controlling share in the Championship leaders and plans to back manager Neil Warnock's bid to return them to the Premier League for the first time in 15 years.

Ecclestone, previously a minority shareholder at QPR, has increased his stake to 62 per cent after buying out Flavio Briatore.

"I am here mainly to support what Neil is doing," Ecclestone said.
