Man City vs Tottenham player ratings: Son Heung-min and Raheem Sterling goals crown fine displays

We run the rule over both teams after a thrilling game

Man City vs Tottenham Champions League preview

Tottenham Hotspur have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, eliminating Manchester City on away goals in one of the most incredible European matches in recent memory.

It took Raheem Sterling just four minutes to square things up on aggregate when the England international received the ball in space on the left and placed a sublime curling shot into the far corner of the goal.

However, Son Heung-min was quick to turn the tie back in Tottenham’s favour with a lightning-quick double. And yet just one minute after his second, Bernardo Silva struck to ensure the teams went in for half-time with the score level on the night.

A stunning finish from Sergio Aguero then saw City seize the initiative for the first time in the tie, but Spurs got their noses back in front when Fernando Llorente turned in Christian Eriksen’s corner with his hip.

There was to be one final moment of drama when Sterling scored in the dying seconds to seemingly send City through. But VAR ruled out the goal for offside to send Spurs into the last four.

Check the above gallery to see how we rated the two teams after an utterly thrilling game.
