Football: Hibernian make the most of Miller time

KENNY MILLER came off the substitutes' bench yesterday to score a dramatic late winner as Hibernian beat Dundee 4-3 in a Premier League game that swung one way and then the other at Dens Park.

Dirk Lehman gave Hibs the lead in the 32nd minute after Russell Latapy's pass ripped Dundee apart. However, in two second-half minutes Dundee seized the lead. The equaliser owed a great deal to luck, with Hibs' defender Paul Lovering scoring an own goal. Shaun McSkimming then gave Dundee the lead, drilling in a left-foot shot after a clever Willie Falconer dummy.

Franck Sauzee restored parity on the hour for Hibs, with a glorious free- kick. However, Eddie Annand put Dundee in front once more, with a 72nd minute penalty. Sauzee scored again to make the score 3-3 before Miller volleyed a classy winner for Hibs.

Last season St Johnstone beat Celtic three times. There was no repeat on Saturday, however, as goals from Johan Mjallby, Mark Viduka and Morten Wieghorst made it two straight wins for John Barnes as he embarks on his career as Celtic's head coach.

Garry Hay, recalled from a loan stint at Queen of the South, became Kilmarnock's matchwinner against Aberdeen. The 21-year-old defender marked his home debut with two goals, the second from 35 yards.
