Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko postponed: Heavyweight champion claims ankle injury has delayed fight

Tyson Fury has claimed that his heavyweight title fight against Wladimir Klitschko will been postponed.

The fight was scheduled to take place at the Manchester Arena on July 9 but, according to the WBA and WBO champion, will be moved to a later date.

Fury, who revealed the news in a video on Instagram, revealed that he had recently sustained an akle injury while training.

"About ten days ago, I was running up in the Lake District and I went over on my ankle, sprained my ankle.

"I've been the hospital, had x-rays and MRA [MRI] scans and all that stuff. They said it's not broken but it's badly spained - keep off it for six or seven weeks.

"I had a second opinion and got the advice was the same. So the fight will be being postponed."

Fury apologised to his supporters who had booked tickets and hotels for the event before promising that it would happen sooner or later.

The Wythenshawe-born fighter defeated Klitschko in Dusseldorf last November to bring the Ukrainian's long-standing reign as heavyweight world champion to an end.
