Veterans killed

Salvadorean police killed two disabled war veterans and a woman on Thursday when they fired on a march of former soldiers and left-wing guerrillas crippled during 12 years of civil war, Reuter reports from San Salvador.

Witnesses said 500 wounded veterans were demanding the release of promised medical and economic aid when riot police threw tear gas and began firing at the protesters. One former government soldier, an ex-guerrilla and a young woman were shot dead.
