LONDON - A United Nations worker and a Norwegian journalist have been killed in what appears to be a battle for the leadership for Sudan's rebel movement, the Sudan People's Liberation Army, writes Richard Dowden. The UN has said it is pulling out of southern Sudan, suspending its vital feeding programme 'Operation Lifeline'. Two other UN staff members are missing. The deaths appear to have occurred during fighting between factions loyal to John Garang, the founder of the SPLA, and a group led by William Nyuon, his deputy. Mr Garang yesterday dismissed reports that he had been overthrown.
