SEOUL (AFP) - The South Korean President, Roh Tae Woo, named an academic as prime minister yesterday, to head a politically neutral cabinet in the run-up to December presidential elections.
President Roh appointed Hyun Soong Jong, the president of the Korea Federation of Teachers Associations and president of Hallym University, to replace Chung Won Shik. The 73-year-old law professor is to lead a new cabinet, to be formed tomorrow.
