Ozone warning

Washington (AP) - Depletion of ozone over Antarctica is starting earlier and occurring faster than last year, atmospheric scientists announced yesterday.

Samuel Oltmans and David Hofmann, scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Boulder, Colorado, said ozone readings over the South Pole last week were 15 per cent lower than those taken in the same week of 1991, which were then record low readings for the time of year.
