Pretoria - A senior member of the Zulu nationalist Inkatha Freedom Party was arrested yesterday in connection with 13 murders in KwaZulu-Natal. The arrest of M Z Khumalo for the killing of 13 people in January 1987 in a black township comes four days after a former senior military intelligence officer was arrested for the same murders. Mr Khumalo, who was arrested in Durban, had been implicated in an Inkatha scandal in 1991, when it was revealed the party had accepted money from the white-minority government. He resigned as personal assistant to the Inkatha leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi after other Inkatha officials said he was the only one who knew of the payments. AFP
