'World's biggest flag' covers field in Romania
The country's Prime Minister intends to visit the site later today
Villagers in Clinceni, Romania, have today covered a field with what they claim is the world's biggest ever flag, in a Guinness World Records bid.
Around 200 people unfurled the flag - which organisers claim measured 330m by 220m, or the size of three football pitches - in Clinceni, 22 miles south-east of Bucharest. Because of windy conditions, workers used sandbags to keep the flag on the ground.
Adrian Dragomir, manager of the Flags Factory which created the flag, says it took weeks to sew and used up 44 miles of thread.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta and other ministers plan visit the flag later.
