The Ukrainian parliament urged the UN Security Council yesterday to help resolve the dispute on the status of the Black Sea port of Sevastopol, AFP reports from Moscow.
The Russian parliament claimed on Friday that the Crimean port belonged to Russia, but President Boris Yeltsin repudiated the declaration. Ukrainian MPs claimed the Russian parliament's resolution had 'no legal basis'.
