Tenerife decapitation suspect was on bail

The Bulgarian man accused of beheading a British woman in Tenerife on Friday was on bail when the attack took place.

Spanish police had issued an arrest warrant for Deyan Deyanov, 28, on 10 May, three days before the supermarket attack on Jennifer Mills-Westley, 60, from Norfolk. The warrant was issued after Deyanov failed to meet bail conditions imposed after an unprovoked attack on a night security guard patrolling the beach front in the popular resort of Los Cristiano's on 4 February.

Deyanov assaulted the guard with a rock and knocked out his front teeth. He was sent to a psychiatric unit in the island's capital Santa Cruz, but was later released on bail on the condition that he report to court every two weeks.
