Six people were killed and at least 30 others injured when a bus crashed into two trucks on an Austrian autobahn, authorities said today.

Police in Lower Austria province said the collision happened near the town of Heiligenkreuz at around midnight but could not immediately provide details about the dead or what caused the accident.

Austrian media reported that the bus was carrying passengers from Kosovo and was en route to Germany.

Police could only confirm that the bus had a German licence plate.

The injured were taken to hospitals in the area.
