Picture of the Day: Protesters take to the canals
In a continuing near-40-year protest against the motor boat, rowers crowded the Canal Cannaregio in Venice yesterday to claim the waters for an older form of transport.
The event started in 1975 after complaints that the motorised boats were spoiling the tranquillity of the city of canals. The regatta takes rowers through more than 30 kilometres of some of the most beautiful parts of the city.
