Berlin church to hold Star Wars-themed church service to celebrate Force Awakens release

A Star Wars-themed church service is to be held in Berlin this weekend to mark the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the latest film in the popular series.

The service, on 20th December at the Zion Church, will include scenes from 1983 movie Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and will be set to iconic music taken from the movies.

Pastor Lucas Ludewig is the Jedi-loving vicar behind the service, and said the film had elements to it which could be compared to the Bible verse “Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good”.

“In the decisive scene of Episode VI, Luke Skywalker is being persuaded to join the Emperor's side - the evil side,” he told The Local.

“Luke resists, with the words: I will never turn to the Dark Side.”

The Force Awakens, which opens in cinemas tomorrow, is already being hailed by critics as a strong addition to the franchise.

“This is the film fans were hoping for, and it's an indisputable improvement on the abhorred prequels,” wrote Christopher Hooton for the Independent.
