Canada's former prime minister steps down as party leader

Kim Campbell announcing her resignation as head of the Progressive Conservative Party yesterday. She lost her Commons seat in the general election in October. Last night the party chose Jean Charest, a 35-year-old lawyer, to succeed her. He was one of only two members of the party to win a seat.
