Show all 5Madonna, the 58-year-old pop icon, surprised New Yorkers on Monday with an impromptu performance in the name of Hillary Clinton the eve before Election Day. Nearly 30 minutes before the appearance, campaign organizers announced to fans and supporters online that Madonna would perform at Manhattan’s Washington Square Park.
"This is a concert about unifying us, and it's about keeping America great, not making America great," the singer told fans who managed to catch the short, 30-minute performance. "This is a concert about peace, OK? And we are trying to elect — we are going to elect — a president that is going to keep America the great country that it is and has the potential to be."
Madonna played acoustic versions John Lennon’s “Imagine” and her own hits “Like a Prayer,” Don’t Tell Me,” “Express Yourself,” and “Rebel Heart.” Meanwhile, the Democratic nominee held a rally in Pennsylvania with performances from Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, with an appearance from this sitting president, Barack Obama.
