Hillary Clinton calls Donald Trump to concede presidential election, despite refusing to speak publicly

Hillary Clinton has rung Donald Trump to concede the election to him.
Ms Clinton didn't appear publicly at what was intended as her victory rally. Instead, her campaign manager John Podesta spoke to say that she would not be speaking until the morning after election night.
But US TV networks are reporting that the Democratic candidate has privately called her rival to admit that he has won the US election.

Show all 12Mr Trump made reference to the call in his victory speech on election night. He said that Ms Clinton had congratulated him and his supporters on their victory, and that he had congratulated her on a hard-fought campaign.
“I've just received a call from Secretary Clinton," he told the audience in New York. "She congratulated us – it's about us – on our victory and I congratulated her and her family on a very, very hard fought campaign.”
