Trump campaign doubles down on attacks on Gretchen Whitmer despite chilling kidnap plot
Jason Miller ripped into politician after she said president ‘gave comfort’ to extremists
A Donald Trump campaign official attacked Gretchen Whitmer for having “hatred in her heart” for the president following her reaction to revelations about the kidnap plot against her.
The Michigan governor hit out at Mr Trump for not condemning white supremacists as she denounced the militia plot broken up by the FBI.
Authorities say militia members planned on kidnapping Gov Whitmer and putting her on “trial” for her emergency coronavirus orders.
“Our head of state has spent the last seven months denying science, ignoring his own health experts, stoking distrust, fomenting anger and giving comfort to those that spread fear and hatred and division,” she said as she reacted to the foiled scheme.
“Just last week the president of the United States stood before the American people and refused to condemn white supremacists and hate groups like these two Michigan militia groups.
Trump campaign official Jason Miller went on Fox News and took aim at Gov Whitmer just hours after the 13 militia members were charged in Michigan.
“These are some pretty shameful comments from Gov Whitmer,” Jason Miller said on Fox News.
“How you can go from a moment of unity to attacking Donald Trump I thought was ridiculous.
“If we want to talk about hatred, then Gov Whitmer, go look in the mirror - the fact that she wakes up every day with such hatred in her heart towards President Trump.
“President Trump is the one who is out there condemning these radical groups, whether they be on the right or on the left.”
