Job seekers looking for work at a new casino in the United States are facing uneviable odds after 16,000 applicants applied for just 750 jobs.

The rush for work was revealed at the Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland, Ohio, with managers being bombarded by the applications over just four days. The positions included bar work and security.

The casino, which should be fully built by March, said it would concentrate on hiring staff from the local area.
