Police in Florida are investigating whether a car chase on Monday evening is connected to two dead bodies that were found on a beach the following morning.

On Monday, 63-year-old Daniel Dovi, led police on a 20 mile chase on Interstate 95 in Florida, before his car was flipped over by police and he was arrested, according to Fox News.

The incident started after residents saw Mr Dovi and his Jeep Wrangler parked in a vacant lot in Center Avenue, in Fort Lauderdale.

Mr Dovi appeared to have set up camp, and one of the owners of the lot, Michael Jones, drove his Porsche over to the area and confronted him.

Mr Jones told WFOR-TV that when he got out of his car to ask Mr Dovi to leave, the 63-year-old threatened his life.

“He got up, he came over and he shoved me to the ground, started screaming at me, told me he was going to kill me,” Mr Jones said.

Mr Dovi then got into his car, and while driving out of the lot, knocked into Mr Jones’ vehicle and a golf cart.

The police were called by Mr Jones, but while they spoke to him about the incident in the lot, Mr Dovi drove back, before quickly leaving again, with the police on his tail.

After leading the police on a chase for 20 miles, an officer clipped the side of Mr Dovi’s car, which caused it to flip and roll onto its side.

Mr Dovi was arrested, and subsequently charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of criminal mischief, according to the Miami Herald.

He was also been charged with one other count of battery and one count of fleeing the police.

On Tuesday morning, two dead bodies were found on a nearby beach in Fort Lauderdale at around 6.15am.

They were both found stabbed on the beach, in front a condominium complex, and Fort Lauderdale police detective, Ali Adamson, confirmed that the two did not die via murder suicide, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Mr Adamson told reporters in a press conference on Wednesday morning, that the authorities are now investigating to see whether the police chase and bodies are connected, after they found multiple weapons in Mr Dovi’s car.

The detective said: “The incidents occurred within close proximity and timeframe to one another and as a result detectives are looking into the possibility that the two incidents may be related.”

At the time of writing, Mr Dovi has not been charged in connection with the two dead bodies found on the beach, but the investigation is ongoing.
