Bullet misses service station worker by inches in failed armed robbery

A service station worker dodged a bullet by a matter of inches after a masked intruder opened fire during a failed armed robbery.

CCTV captured the moment the gunman held up the service station in Sydney, Australia.

After walking in he waved a gun at cashier Habeb Habeb while demanding money from the till. However, Mr Habeb refused to hand anything over.

Seconds later the gun went off, with the bullet narrowly missing Mr Habeb and hitting the wall behind him. The gunman then fled empty-handed.

The entire incident lasting no more than 28 seconds.

Police are still searching for the gunman, who they described as a Pacific Island/Maori man of large build.

Mr Habeb, a 67-year-old great-grandfather told 7 News Sydney that the robber said "give me money or I'll shoot you".

He added that he wasn't scared until the gun went off.

Mr Habed, who has worked at the service station for 10 years, was reportedly back at work the morning after the attempted robbery.

He told 7 News Sydney that his boss asked him why he didn't hand over any money, but added that he was "happy" about the outcome of the incident.

Police said it was "incredible" that no one was injured.
