The White House has published its annual list of staff pay.

Twenty two people, including Sean Spicer, Kellyanne Conway and Steve Bannon earn the highest amount of $179,700 (£136,394).

Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and senior policy adviser Stephen Miller also earn $179,700.

Also in the top bracket are Dan Scavino, director of social media and 28-year-old Hope Hicks, White House Director of Strategic Communications, who had no political experience prior to the Presidential campaign.

All the highest earners are in Donald Trump’s closest circle. But the document also showed a gender pay disparity, with just six women in the top wages bracket.

And not all of the most senior staffers received the top wage. Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner both receive salaries of $0.00 a year.

Ms Trump, whose job is listed as First Daughter and Adviser to the President, was consistently close to the Presidential campaign but only took an official role in March.

Mr Kushner, assistant to the President and senior adviser, officially worked closely with Mr Trump since he took office.

Keith Schiller, the former NYPD detective who has served as Mr Trump’s top bodyguard since the early 2000s, is paid $165,000 (£125,000). He is now employed as director of Oval Office Operations.

While staffers were paid slightly more than under the Obama administration, an analysis by Roll Call found female staffers earned an average of $84,500 (£64,000), compared to $105,000 (£79,600) for men – equating to 80 cents to the dollar.

There were also some more unusual pay packets. The White House Chief Calligrapher, Pat Blair, who designs and draws all official documents – from invitations to Presidential proclamations – earns $102,212 (£77,500).

Her subordinates, Debra Brown and Becky Larimer, earn $90,828 (£68,900) and $70,100 (£53,200) respectively.

Mr Trump himself repeatedly vowed before taking office that he would not take the $400,000 (£303,000) salary.

In April, Mr Trump’s first quarter income -- $78,333 (£59,400) – was donated to the National Parks Service to repair historic battlefields.
