Woman dies in stabbing

Detectives launched a murder investigation last night after a woman died of knife wounds following an incident in which two men were also wounded.

Neighbours called police to a house in St Helens, Merseyside, where they found the woman, aged about 30, and a man both suffering knife injuries. They were taken to the nearby Whiston Hospital where the woman died.

A second man, also suffering knife wounds, was arrested and taken in custody to the hospital.
