Unesco, the UN agency for arts and culture, said yesterday that it would launch a fund-raising drive to raise pounds 215m to renovate Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre.

Unesco said two Bolshoi directors would meet its officials this week to discuss the work needed on the dilapidated 142-year-old building.
