Committal proceedings against Vincent Wood, 29, charged with conspiring to cause an explosion and possessing Semtex, began at Arbour Square magistrates' court in east London amid tight security. In a separate case, Patrick Murphy, 52, charged with causing an explosion near Downing Street and kidnapping a mini-cab driver, was remanded in custody for a further 24 hours.
