Peter Williamson, now retired, lives in Ealing. He was awarded a Gilchrist prize as a mature student (London University) and has been a social worker and careers adviser. His poems have appeared in various journals and a number have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. This poem appears in the pamphlet Feathers Cut Stone, published by Brentham Press (40 Oswald Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire AL1 3AQ; pounds 1.50).
