Silcott case delay

The jury in the Old Bailey trial of Det Ch Supt Graham Melvin, 52, and Det Insp Maxwell Dingle, 57, accused of fabricating evidence in the case of Winston Silcott, spent last night at a hotel after failing to reach a verdict. Silcott, jailed for life for murdering PC Keith Blakelock during the 1985 Broadwater Farm riots, was freed by the Court of Appeal in 1989. The jury will return today.
