A couple are to stand trial accused of assaulting their son, 11, in their home. Appearing before magistrates at Weston-super-Mare, Avon, yesterday, the couple, in their late forties, denied a joint charge of causing actual bodily harm to their son on 25 June and were released on unconditional bail. The boy is in voluntary care with Avon social services.
