Girl sends apology letter to police after accidentally calling 999 on New Year's Eve

A six-year-old girl wrote a heartfelt apology to police after accidentally calling 999 on New Year’s Eve.

Izzy Vardy was playing with her mother’s locked mobile phone when, without understanding what she was doing, she pressed emergency call several times.

Her mum was “very cross” after answering a call from the control room and explained the importance of only dialling 999 in an emergency.

To make up for the mistake, Izzy, from Annesley, in Nottinghamshire, sent police a box of biscuits and a letter to apologise.

The letter read: “I'm so, so sorry to you all and my mummy and daddy.

“We have chatted about 999 and I understand that you only ring 999 in an emergency.”
