A FRENCH pilot accused of murdering a wealthy English widow who was his mistress was ordered to be freed by an Old Bailey judge yesterday after a jury failed to agree a verdict in a second trial.

Gaeton Beissy, 56, had denied stabbing Carolyn Taylor, 54, through the heart last July. The prosecution alleged he killed her after a violent row. The couple had had a whirlwind romance.
