The treasurer of the Hospital Fund Appeal Society, Victor Mayhead, 48, of Higham, Kent, who stole more than pounds 50,00 from the charity, was jailed for six months for false accounting and furnishing false information. His wife Janis, 44, the fund's vice-chairman, who was found guilty of the same offences, failed to appear at Southwark Crown Court for sentencing and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
