Sky drops Boycott

Geoffrey Boycott has been dropped from the commentary team for Sky television's transmissions from the West Indies following his conviction for assaulting a former girlfriend in France.

The action has been taken by Trans World International and follows that taken by BBC radio on Tuesday. A statement by Simon Wheeler, head of TWI's cricket production team, said: "It has been decided that, for the time being, it would not be appropriate for Geoff Boycott to commentate on the upcoming West Indies v England Test matches. This matter may be reviewed periodically until such time as his legal proceedings are concluded." Boycott said: "The statement is correct. I do not want to say anything on this matter."
