AN OUTBREAK of dengue fever has killed at least 114 people in the Philippines and the situation may worsen with the onset of the torrential rains of the La Nina weather phenomenon.
"La Nina would mean more rains and this means more breeding grounds for mosquitoes," said Antonio Lopez, a public health under-secretary. Up to 4.4 percent of the Philippines' population could be affected.
