The man wanted for questioning about the murder of Rachel Nickell has postponed a meeting with Scotland Yard detectives in New Zealand after contacting his lawyer.
The hold-up follows a series of strong denials by John Gallagher that he was involved in the killing. Mr Gallagher, 31, a barman, was alleged by a woman living near Wimbledon Common, in south-west London, to have had a blood- stained shirt on the day of the murder in July 1992.
