Academy Awards are not the only thing that Helen Hunt and Jodie Foster have in common.

Both women are tall, blonde and come straight out of Hollywood.

The actors, 52 and 51 years old respectively, may also be mistaken for each other when ordering a caffeine-related beverage.

Ms Hunt, the actress, film director and screenwriter, had “Jody” written on her cup when she picked up a drink at Starbucks.

Ms Hunt then took to social media to summarize the exchange.

Perhaps the Starbucks barista was a big fan of Ms Foster in “Money Monster” and was so taken with the child star’s recent return to directing that she did not realize that standing in front of her was the star of “As Good As It Gets” and four-time Emmy winner for “Mad About You”.

Starbucks responded with quick wit.

Media pundits have speculated whether the exchange was an example of clever marketing or whether Ms Hunt might be the new face of a Starbucks campaign.

It is not the first time that celebrities have responded to mix-ups with humour.

Another two lookalikes are Mark Wahlberg, star of "Ted", and Matt Damon of "Good Will Hunting".

Mr Wahlberg said he has let fans approach him, thinking he is Mr Damon, and has not corrected them.
