Prince Charles and Camilla have released a more unusual Christmas card this year.

In their festive offering for 2016, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are pictured grinning and surrounded by a troupe of Croatian dancers wearing traditional national dress.

The snap was taken after the Croatian Cultural Artistic Society performed a dance for the pair during their tour of Croatia and the western Balkans in March.

The card contains a simple message: “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”

Aides told the Daily Mail the picture was chosen because “they loved it”.

Theresa May opted for three designs this year, none of which feature her or her husband Philip. Instead, her cards, unveiled on Thursday, were drawn by children from her constituency in Maidenhead.

Leaders of the major political parties have yet to release their annual cards. It remains to be seen whether Labour leader and cycling enthusiast Jeremy Corbyn will release something as imaginative as a bike covered in snow, his 2015 effort.
