Rear-Admiral Edmond Moran, naval officer and businessman, died New Canaan, Connecticut 15 July, aged 96. A Rear-Admiral in the US Navy, he commanded the Mulberry Harbour operation during the Normandy invasions. His force towed huge concrete caissons across the chanel which were used as floating docks from which to unload supplies and ammunition. He was president of the Moran Towing Corporation, the largest tugboat operation in the US, and president and chairman of the Maritime Association of the Port of New York.
