Dame Janet Vaughan, scientist and administrator, died aged 93. Principal of Somerville College, Oxford, from 1945 to 1967, she wrote extensively on diseases of the blood and blood transfusion. Chairman of the Oxford Regional Hospital Board 1950-51. (An obituary follows.)
