Got a deep burning question for Donald Trump you've always wanted to ask? Well don’t fear, the Republican presidential candidate will be hosting his first “Ask me Anything” (AMA) session” on Reddit this Wednesday at 12am GMT.

For those who don’t understand the significance and ever-growing clout of Reddit, the news site, where users can submit content, has 542 million monthly visitors, making it the 25th most visited website in the world.

For this reason, AMAs have become a popular way for prominent figures to intimately engage with the wider public and answer questions which might ordinarily be off limits in a traditional press conference. President Barack Obama, Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates have all hosted their own AMAs.

Nevertheless, Mr Trump’s Reddit session will be slightly different to his predecessors as he does not appear to be taking the reign through the standard channels allocated for high-profile AMAs. Instead, he is appearing on a Subreddit (for Reddit virgins: a Subreddit is essentially a niche forum) titled “The Donald”.

Although “The Donald” bans outright bigotry and racism, it has been accused of providing a home for intolerance. In April, The New York Times wrote that “visitors to the group will find a cascade of offensive postings”. In recent months, the fast-growing group which has more than 180,000 subscribers has become one of the most powerful and influential communities on Reddit.

The event is titled as “It’s happening: Donald J Trump - The man, the legend, the 45th President of the United States of America” and it describes Mr Trump as the “God Emperor”.

It will kick off at 6.30 pm EST, with questions being answered by Mr Trump from 7pm EST onwards. The session will take place just in time for the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia and will coincide with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden taking the stage.

A representative for Reddit and Mr Trump did not immediately respond to request for comment.
