Madam: The smiling faces of Ruislip Gardens Primary School pupils ("Oddball marriage trying to put kids first", 30 March) contrasted with the anxious faces of their parents at last autumn's annual parents' meeting. The dismay felt by Ruislip Gardens parents at finding their children's secondary education might suffer as a result of an accident of geography deserves to be recorded. It is hardly their fault if they live in a gaping hole between the catchment areas of their local secondary schools.
The new funds that the Funding Agency for Schools is giving to schools in Hillingdon may improve matters, but it is still likely some pupils will find themselves living outside the catchment areas of all the nearest schools.
Yours faithfully,
CHRISTINE E MOORE
Chairman of Governors
Ruislip Gardens Primary School
