Carlton wins MGM cinema go-ahead

The Office of Fair Trading has given permission to Carlton Communications to purchase the MGM cinemas, the chain being auctioned by Credit Lyonnais. The permission refers back to a display of interest shown in the cinema chain by Carlton in March. Warburg, adviser to Credit Lyonnais, said it hoped the sale would be complete by the end of the month.
