Bankers to meet Lamont

SENIOR executives from the big four clearing banks will this week meet Norman Lamont to discuss their handling of small business accounts. The meeting follows the Chancellor's decision last month to examine interest rates and fees charged to small businesses. Andrew Buxton, chief executive and chairman designate of Barclays, will meet Mr Lamont on Wednesday. National Westminster will be represented by its chief executive, Derek Wanless. Lloyds and Midland have yet to decide who to send.
