GERMANY'S XETRA DAX clawed its way back from early losses to end flat yesterday, lifted by a surge in Deutsche Telekom and news that Yugoslavia had accepted the principles laid down by the Group of Eight on Kosovo.
The electronically-traded Xetra DAX share index ended down 0.05 per cent, or 2.39 points, at 5,068.59. In floor trade, the DAX closed up 0.02 per cent.
"The news from Belgrade is a positive development and prompted some short covering," one trader said. "But trade is very, very quiet."
